After the official launch on January 22nd, 2004, orkut has under gone many changes; like adding and removing many facilities, introducing themes etc. But this is the first time they are redisigning the entire orkut. Yep, orkut has recently launched the redesigned orkut; Orkut New !!!. The new version is limited to invited peoples; that means you can change to new orkut only after getting an invitation. Once you shifted to new orkut, you will get permission to in vite 10 friends. [ Still im having 6 more invitations with me.. if you are really intrested, add me as a friend and scrap me; i will send you the invitation ]. This is how the new orkut looks..

The new features are fast and efficient access to all the contents like scrap book, friends list and profile. Recent visitors are shown with their photos instead of name. Birthday notifications can be collapse or expand. In the collapse state, it shows only a small thumbnail of the person. Same way new friends reqests can be collapse or expand. The online friends chat winow is moved to the right side of the window. New updates and photo comments are more detail than ever. Friends list is haivng a scroll bar; means it contains all the friends; you need not have to go to a special page to view all the friends. The profile tab shows only the important details of a person, more details can be view from the more actions tab.

                   Comment / reply a comment to an image is very easy.. We can do this by entering the comment in to the text box below image in the friend’s updation panel.

New orkut is not compatabile with older versions of Internet Explorer (less than 7). If you have any problem in viewing the new orkut, just try the new versions of IE, Firefox, or Google Chrome.
